“The Current” is a show that focuses on current happenings at UNCW and the local Wilmington region. Each episode will have a distinct theme and approach, allowing students to explore a wide range of possible topics and speakers.

“The Current” is produced by students in the Department of Communication Studies ‘Studio Video Production’ class at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The course is designed to introduce students to studio video production procedures and processes. Students will acquire the procedures, equipment, and skills required to produce a variety of studio and television material. Students will get acquainted with the responsibilities of studio production teams and will have the chance to serve in a number of jobs such as producing, directing, studio camera operation, set and lighting design, audio operation, and live content recording. Students will be in charge of achieving all production deadlines and coping with the time constraints that are frequently encountered in real-world video and television projects.
