Sequential Narrative
Sequential Art is the term coined by the pioneer graphic artist Will Eisner to describe art forms that use images deployed in a specific order for the purpose of graphic storytelling.
The order of panels in a booklet or frames in an animation is determined by the designer in order to guide the viewer’s interpretation. A title, color, and transitions are used to emphasize key narrative concepts that help the viewer understand the intended story.
In this project, a single black-and-white image will be chosen and croppings from it will be used to create an alternative visual narrative, first in an accordion-folded booklet, then in an animated movie.
